Just tried crickets for the first time a few days ago, some Mexican lime and pepper flavored ones, and they tasted really good! The flavor was very much present.

Yet not a single person on this "panel" described how the crickets tasted like–we already know how spices taste like. Most of them are deep fried or buried in greasy shit so is not good for you. This video was a total waste of time. Go vegan instead.

The problem behind eating these creatures is bugs and insects are innately disgusting and revolting to many people. Let face it, do modern societies really need those kind of proteins to nourish their human beings? Personally I would not give a try even if I am famished, being stranded on some desolated islands.

As a Mexican, crickets as a snack doesn't shock me at all. I'd love to try out the different varieties (with a nice IPA to wash it down smoothly)

What we concern more is the price. If it cost more than meat with the same weight, people will go for meat

here's the thing, it's not GROSS in the sense that EW IT"S A BUG, it's more or less the same mentality people have about sushi, escargot, and other things to that nature, it's different and new and thus weird to the average american. But, that doesn't make it gross at least not to me. Now on the other hand i've tried crickets, and they don't ever taste the way they claim they should on the packaging. It's almost as if the people making these foodstuffs never ate what they claim the crickets are supposed to taste like in the first place. I bet you anything they were developed by majority of vegans and vegetarians or something like that because they taste absolutely nothing remotely close to what they claim they taste like. They don't taste BAD they just don't taste GOOD either.

They grind crickets up to make cricket meal. That can be mixed into standard recipes. That I'd try. Maybe a hush puppy recipe.
